Dolphin watch on the east coast of Australia have received a much needed boost through the world first wild dolphin swim experience AMVE (aquatic marine viewing experience) at Port Stephens. Never before has there been such an interactive dolphin watching experience, where watching dolphins combines with swimming with dolphins and a world class team of presenters who share their passion and knowledge of all things cetacean with participants.
Dolphin swimming on the east coast of Australia is a rare gem, with only one licensed and approved wild dolphin swim available. Dolphin Swim Australia are the proud owners of the first and only permit to swim with dolphins ever issued on the East Coast of Australia. Permitted by the Marine Park Authority to operate within the offshore boundaries of the Port Stephens / Great Lakes Marine Park and allowed to interact with the Short Beaked Common dolphin.
Our operational season is 1st weekend of October to last weekend of May. October operations ensure the boat encounters not only dolphins, though often we see the traveling Humpback Whales and calves as they commence their southern migration on the whale highway which takes them right through our swim grounds at Port Stephens. Whale Watching and dolphin watching combine with our swim, where for months and we get to see the most amazing sights while enjoying close in water encounters with dolphins.

Another world first: This season Dolphin Swim Australia’s guests will enjoy the benefits of high definition cameras capturing the action above and below water. Off season has seen the implementation of state of the art camera capture systems and now each and every swim will be filmed above and below water allowing guests to both see the action, via twin flat screen TV’s on board and the general public, friends and family, through the scheduled playback where a rough edit of the the entire swim sequence including training, occurs with a 6 hour delay on our website. How cool is that? Clients will also be able to purchase a disk of video footage and stills from this state of the art system, right on the boat on the day.
