Sounds of the deep

With an amazing trip to tonga we were able to capture the humpback whale songs for the year. Incredibly, the whales all sing the same song. It does change from year to year, and gets a bit more evolved, but all of the singers are singing the same song. It’s quite amazing to think about. Have a listen to some of the sounds below. Each sound bite is taken from the overall song.

Close your eyes and listen to the whale song. You can almost imagine yourself there, swimming with the whales. It is an amazing example of communication, at a level far out of the human experience. Detailed information is being sent through this aqueous environment, to disperse these sound bites for the whales to retrieve. It’s alost impossible to image. These waves of information can travel all the way from Bermuda, to Australia.
